This page will go over how to change the version of nodes.

Installation

Before chnaging the node versions you need to install the new build the same way you installed the old version.

Do not uninstall the old version yet. You need both version installed otherwise you can encounter issues with your existing HIP files. Houdini does not auto convert nodes to newer versions if the old one is missing.

We recommend keeping old version installed incase you need to open an old HIP file that has not been converted. They may no longer function in newer Houdini versions but Houdini will always load functional node definitions. This also prevents Houdini from throwing missing definition errors.

You will need to do for each node in your HIP file. This includes all the source shape and utility nodes.

Gotchas

Changed Parameter Names

Sometimes we need to change parameter names so not all the settings will copy over. You may need to manually copy some parameter values.
